Indiana Department of Education announces new reduced price and free meal guidelines

The Indiana Department of Education announced new statewide guidelines for free and reduced price school meals on Tuesday.

According to the IDOE, families who use food stamps, have a child in a Head Start program, or have foster children are automatically eligible for the program.

Applications forms will be provided to all homes with a letter to parents or guardians.

To apply, households must complete the application and return it to the school.

One application per household should be submitted for all students enrolled in the school district.

Department officials say that applications will be accepted any time during the school year.
