Indiana high school 'swears by' unusual lesson plan

INDIANAPOLIS -- Saying a "curse word" in class used to get you in trouble, but one Indianapolis High School is actually encouraging it.

"Everyone was nervous about it and uncomfortable about it, to write it in front of an adult, especially a teacher," said Viazell Gaither, a Howe student.

Teachers at Howe High School asked students to write down cuss words, say them aloud, and explain why they are offensive.

The idea is to teach kids what not to say.

The school stands by the unusual lesson plan. The principal said it allows teachers to gain control and cuts down on swearing.
