Indiana Honda plant hires 1,000 Hoosier workers

GREENSBURG, Ind. -- This week, an Indiana Honda plant held true to its word and hired hundreds of new employees!

Honda promised to start a second shift when the Greensburg plant opened three years ago. Then, the economy tanked and the automaker put the brakes on that plan. Then, Honda was forced to shift gears again after the Japanese tsunami.

Now, the workforce has doubled! The just-hired employees will be assembling the 2012 Civic sedan.

"Every time you open the paper or talk to someone, either somebody you know or somebody they know is laid off. I feel very fortunate,” said one new worker.

Greenburg is the only U.S. plant that makes the car.
