SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Indiana Michigan Power, on behalf of AEP Foundation, presented a check for $216,000 to the Potawatomi Zoological Society on Monday to create a STEM classroom.
The new classroom will be housed in the future Education Complex, which is currently the Red Barn.
The zoo says that the new classroom will increase educational opportunities.
Some of the money will be used to give scholarships to students who would otherwise not be able to participate in the programs.
Additionally, the grant will support conservation education focused on the zoo's acquisition of a southern white rhinoceros in the fall.
