Indiana Michigan Power investing $13 million to rebuild transmission lines in St. Joseph County

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Michigan Power is investing $13 million to rebuild transmission lines in Mishawaka and St. Joseph County in 2023.

The company’s East Mishawaka Transmission Line Project will rebuild four miles of lines between Beech Road and the Twin Branch Substation off of Twin Lakes Drive.

During the project, crews will replace lattice towers dating back to the 1920s with modern steel poles.

Doing so will increase transmission line dependability, reducing the likelihood of lengthy power outages.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2023 and wrap up in fall 2023.

Landowners in the impacted area will receive updates from I&M throughout the project.
