Indiana State Police accepting applications for regional dispatchers

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Applications are now being accepted by Indiana State Police for the position of regional dispatcher at the Toll Road post on County Road 17.

The dispatch center covers the length of the Toll Road and the Bremen District, which includes Elkhart, St. Joseph, Marshall and Kosciusko counties.

Dispatcher responsibilities include receiving dispatch information and accurately reporting it to police personnel, law enforcement agencies and emergency services.

Information will be relayed through the use of Computer Aided Dispatch Systems, Records Management Systems, Automatic Vehicle Locators, Geographic Information Systems and other resources.

To be considered for the position, an applicant must have attained a high school diploma or GED equivalent and must be able to be seated in confined areas for extended periods of time.

Pay for the position begins at $47,320 per year, but may be adjusted based on the applicant's education, training and experience.
