Cheers Bar and Grill liquor license renewed following controversy
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police are searching for a suspect involved in an armed robbery of a gas station convenience store.
Almost immediately after entering the store the suspect shot and killed the store clerk.
The robber was wearing all black with a hood.
Theft was the driving force behind the attack, as the suspect jumped the counter and ripped out the entire cash register, returning minutes later to steal a box of cigars.
Neighbors near the store say they were stunned that the clerk was shot so quickly.
Some lawmakers are working to protect people on the job, as this is the second time in two months an employee has been killed in Indianapolis during work hours.
"I don't like having people killed. It's painful that you have low wage workers who are working at night to keep body and soul together and then they end up dead. This is not a good thing," Ed Delaney, a representative of the Indiana State House had to say.
Police have not made any arrests in the case and are asking anyone with information on the suspect to come forward.
