Indianapolis state park reopens after Saturday night shooting

The Fort Harrison State Park, The Garrison restaurant and conference center, and the Fort Golf Course in Indianapolis reopens after being temporarily closed due to a shooting late Saturday night.

The Lawrence Police department received a 9-1-1 call just after 11:00 p.m. and responded with Conservation Officers From the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR says the incident occurred at the Col. Root House, where witnesses say an estimated 150 to 200 people were attending a party.

The house is one of four historic homes available to rent at the park.

Officers say two 18-year-old males and one 18-year-old female were injured and taken to local hospitals. All three individuals are listed in stable condition.

The names of those individuals have not been released and the reason for the shooting is still unknown.

Conservation officers served multiple search warrants and recovered two firearms and other evidence at the scene.

The DNR says Indiana Conservation Officers are taking the lead on the investigation with assistance from Lawrence Police.

Officers are looking into multiple leads and asking anyone with information to call 262-TIPS.
