INDOT finishes setting beams for Johnson Road bridge

After two days of lane restrictions and periodic lane closures on US31, the Indiana Department of Transportation has completed installing the 100,000 pound bridge beams for the new Johnson Road bridge several hours earlier than expected.

The road restrictions and periodic closures were on US31 between Kern Road and the US 20 bypass.

Crews set eight beams for the new Johnson Road bridge.

INDOT says the new bridge will allow easier access for emergency services and residents to neighborhoods around US31.

The new bridge is expected to open by the end of the year.
