Injured work release escapee caught
LAPORTE, Ind. – A man who allegedly escaped from a work release program injured his foot and was taken into custody at the hospital, according to the LaPorte Police Department.
Travis Wunderlin, 22, is accused of escaping from the work release center at approximately 1:30 p.m.
A short time later, a family member found Wunderlin sitting in a vehicle in his driveway. Knowing Wunderlin was supposed to be at work release, the witness asked Wunderlin why he was there.
Wunderlin allegedly said he jumped from a window and escaped – but that during the escape he injured his foot and thought it might be broken.
The witness took Wunderlin to the hospital for treatment.
Around 2:17 p.m., police responded to the hospital and took Wunderlin back into custody.
