SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Saint Joseph County Police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash at approximately 11:20 a.m. this morning on Inwood Road, just east of Hickory Road.

Officers arrived to find a gray Ford Sedan had left the roadway at a high rate of speed continuing eastbound through a wooded area and striking multiple trees before coming to a stop.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, with no passengers in the vehicle.

There were no initial signs of intoxication or impairment, with speed being the initial primary factor in the crash.

County Police traffic investors are handling the investigation.
