ISP finds over 120 kilograms of cocaine in Porter County semitruck

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. -- Earlier this week, the Indiana State Police seized 123.9 kilograms of cocaine from the back of a semitruck at a weigh station on I-94 in Porter County.

According to authorities, at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, the ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division stopped a semi at the I-94 eastbound scales for a motor carrier violation.

"The scales are located approximately two miles east of S.R. 49 in Porter County. During the traffic stop, a State Police K9 did a free air sniff of the semi and alerted to the vehicle," ISP Sgt. Glen Fifield. "A subsequent search of the trailer revealed 123.9 kilos of a white powder."

ISP Troopers field tested the powder, and results came back positive for cocaine.

The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Naseeb Chisty, of Canada, was taken into custody without incident and later incarcerated at the Porter County Jail.
