It's National Rescue Dog Day: Meet our Pet of the Week Daphne
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- If those of you at home want to celebrate ‘National Rescue Dog Day’ with a new furry family member, ABC 57 News is giving you an opportunity to give shelter pets their fairytale ending.
Our special guest this week is Daphne from the South Bend Animal Resource Center.
Daphne has been looking for a home for about a month now.
“She's all around amazing and we’re shocked that she’s still here a month later,” Durski said.
She is about a year-old Labrador retriever mix, has beautiful dark brown color fur with a touch of white specks and weighs about 60 lbs.
You’ll catch this silly girl running around with her best friend Rio at the shelter.
She gets along well with other dogs and is a very happy girl.
She’s full of energy, fast, and family-friendly.
The South Bend Animal Resource Center Volunteer Coordinator Sue Durski says the pup is pretty special.
“She’s non-stop going like the energizer bunny, she loves to play outside with her best friend Rio, they tire each other out. If you can tell she’s pretty exhausted but she still wanting to play running around even with her being tired. So, she’ll need to be taught how to settle which when they are in a relaxed position, reward them and tell them to settle so they learn a command of being able to relax and it’s time for a nap,” Durski said.
“She loves meeting people, she loves rough housing and playing outside, she always looks like she has a smile on her face,” Durski said.
Daphne and a lot of other amazing pets are waiting in the shelter for their forever homes.
