IU School of Medicine-South Bend and Notre Dame researchers to host 'Stand Up for Science' rally
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- IU School of Medicine-South Bend and University of Notre Dame researchers will host a "Stand Up for Science" rally on Friday at noon on the School of Medicine campus at the corner of Angela Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue.
The national movement, "Stand Up for Science," launched in mid-February, has gained international support, with its main goal said to be defending science as a public good and central pillar of social progress.
Organizers add other goals include a restoration of federal scientific funding, reinstatement of wrongfully terminated employees at federal agencies, an end to governmental interference and censorship in science, and a renewed commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in science.
Researchers from the IU School of Medicine-South Bend, Notre Dame, St. Mary’s College, and IU South Bend will jointly address the impact of research conducted locally on global health, environmental health, infectious diseases, and cancer biology, according to organizers.
