Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office investigating pedestrian homicide

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. - The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the homicide of a pedestrian on Tuesday.

At 12:11 p.m., deputies were called to a Walmart in the 500 block of N. 9th Street in Kalamazoo for an incident involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

According to the investigation, a maroon sedan intentionally struck a 65-year-old woman who was walking through the parking lot.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she died from her injures.

There is no known relationship between the suspect and the victim, deputies said.

The suspect, a 32-year-old Kalamazoo resident, is in custody on first degree homicide charges.

This incident is under investigation.

The sheriff's office is holding a press conference regarding the incident on Thursday.
