SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- IU’s Kelley School of Business released their annual “Futurecast” this week, giving an economic outlook for Indiana and the U.S. for 2026.
Right now, economists expect a heavy emphasis on AI for the second-straight year, with concerns about potential over-investment leading to a bubble burst.
Professors with the Kelley School of Business expect the U.S. to see slower-than-normal GDP growth next year, coming in around 1.8%.
The state of Indiana saw 2.6% worth of growth in 2025, but constantly changing tariffs and trade policies may make it difficult for the Hoosier State’s manufacturing-based economy to continue growing at a high rate.
