LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A herd of cows in La Porte county moved into the road for an adventure, causing an off-duty officer to step into action on Saturday.
The cows left their home near US 35 and CR 500 South. The group ran through the northbound and southbound lanes of US 35.
Luckily, the off-duty officer was able to contact the owner and other deputies to help with the situation.
A small group of the calves was corralled into a fenced area near US 6 and CR 700 South, while a larger group ran eastbound on US 6 and Range Road.
Two groups entered the field near Range Road and CR 800 South. A smaller group of cows was corralled a short distance away on Range Road.
Deputies, owners, neighbors and several volunteer firefighters were able to secure the cows unharmed.
