ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A 32-year-old South Bend woman is facing an OWI charge after crashing her car into a semi-truck's trailer on the Indiana Toll Road Saturday afternoon.

The Indiana State Police Toll Road Post reports ISP Dispatch began receiving calls of an erratic driver on the Toll Road heading west near mile-marker 85 around 1:55 p.m.

The suspect vehicle was described as a black Ford Fusion, which was said to be driving at erratic speeds while going in and out of lanes.

ISP troopers began responding to the area when they received a call about a crash involving a black sedan and a semi-truck in the westbound lanes near mile-marker 79 around 2:04 p.m.

Authorities arrived at the crash site, finding a black Ford Fusion had struck the rear of a trailer being towed by a semi-truck.

Troopers quickly determined this Fusion to be the suspect vehicle from earlier calls.

The report states the suspect driver, identified as Destiny Gritzmaker, showed signs of impairment while speaking with troopers.

An OWI investigation then began.

Gritzmaker refused medical treatment at the scene but was taken to the hospital for a certified test for impairment. She also received treatment for injuries from the crash.

The semi-truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

After being medically cleared, Gritzmaker was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail for Operating While Intoxicated-Endangerment.
