La Porte K9 finds "trophy sized load" of suspected cocaine Tuesday morning

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- After failing to use their turning signal while passing a semi-truck on the Indiana Toll Road, 43-year-old Maricela Bonilla-Torres was pulled over by La Porte County Deputies at 9:27 a.m. on Tuesday morning.  After a narcotics K9 officer was called to the scene, multiple vacuum sealed packs of suspected cocaine were found, and she and her passenger, 44-year-old Erick Montes, were arrested.

"An agency narcotics K9 was deployed around the exterior of the pickup truck for a free-air sniff," the LCSO said. "The K9 alerted to the presence of the odor of narcotics emitting from the interior of the pickup truck. A search of the pickup truck commenced, in which deputies immediately located multiple vacuum sealed rectangular packages of suspected narcotics within the interior."
