BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Lake Michigan College's Marketing and Communications team received three silver awards and one gold award at the 2025 National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 conference in Indianapolis, Indiana on Oct. 3.

"These awards reflect our team's dedication to telling meaningful stories that resonate with our community," said Jennifer Shoemaker, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Lake Michigan College. "Whether we're celebrating 50 years of women's athletics, sharing a student's transformative journey, or revealing the person behind our beloved mascot, our goal is always to showcase the heart of Lake Michigan College and the incredible people who make this institution special."

The gold award was in Short Form Writing for LMC's June 2 press release, "Outstanding Musician of the Year Finds Musical Renaissance at Lake Michigan College". The story follows Marcia Blake, the retired optometrist and widow who rediscovered her musical passions as a student at LMC, earning the Visual and Performing Arts Department's award.

The silver awards were in Logo Design for the "50 Years of Lake Michigan College Women's Intercollegiate Athletics Logo", Campaign Wild Card for the "50 Years of Lake Michigan College Women's Intercollegiate Athletics" campaign, and Social Media Post for a mascot reveal video posted in May about a 2025 graduate who portrayed mascot Rocky the Red Hawk for two years.
