Landing gear door falls off plane while in-flight

KENT, Wash. -- One neighborhood in Kent, Wash. got a rude awakening when a piece of a plane fell from the sky.

The landing gear door of a plane flying overhead suddenly fell off and narrowly missed a car on a busy street.

Neighbors say the door was about the size of a refrigerator.

"This is a piece of the door that feel," John Hansen said. "I couldn't pick up the whole so I just got a little piece. A souvenir."

The FAA came out to the neighborhood to investigate.

It is believe that the air on the plane's landing forced the piece off.

The case remains under investigation.
