DETROIT, Mich. – LARA suspended the licenses of Cantrell Funeral Home and the manager’s license after inspectors found several violations.

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) found several unsanitary conditions when inspecting the funeral home.

Jameca LaJoyce Boone, Cantrell’s designated manager, had her individual mortuary science license suspended as the funeral home was shut down.

The inspection found the following violations:

Failure to deposit over $21,000 from 13 prepaid funeral contracts

Fraud, deceit, dishonesty, incompetence, and gross negligence in the practice

LARA said they will continue to enforce regulations and hold funeral homes to the highest standards for public health.
