Lerner Theatre reopening Thursday with "The Sound of Music"

ELKHART, Ind.-- Lights, camera, action!

For the first time in 7 months, the Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart will be welcoming back guests.

Since the last showing of Shrek just before March--the Lerner has been shut down due to county regulations.

Starting Thursday, October 8th at 7:30 p.m. the Lerner will be reopening their doors with The Sound of Music.

Performed over the course of 8 different shows the Premier Arts crew is ready to get back to what they love on stage.

The multiple show times are to cover the crowds as they are being broken into smaller pods.

There are 1700 seats inside the Lerner, however this time around there are only 250 seats/tickets available per performance.

Along with fewer seats, there will be a lot more space in between and around guests.

Every other row has been closed to guests to ensure social distancing.

Then guests can sit in groups up to 6 with at least 3 seats in between each group.

Masks must be worn at all times while in the Theatre aside from when you are seated for the actual performance.

Hand sanitizer will be readily available at entrances and throughout the venue.

There will be no concessions and water fountains have been shut down.

Restrooms will be available with several stalls and sinks closed for social distancing.

For anyone interested in going to see the performance you are asked to purchase a ticket ahead of time.

You will be reserving a time and date versus a specific seat.

You can do so online at the Lerner Theatre's website along with a full list of the safety protocols now in place.

While the pandemic has been an uncertain time for everyone, The Lerner Theatre has been doing everything possible to give in person and virtual options to keep their patrons opportunities to stay in the loop.

There are several workshops coming up for adults and children alike (including the Monster Workshop for kids 5-15 years-old) to work on their craft: whether it be singing, dancing, or acting.

For a list of those workshops and audition times available for the Lerner Theatre Christmas show-- follow the Lerner Theatre on their Facebook page along with their website.
