Live coverage of local student walkouts
Students across the country, including many in Michiana, participated in the school walkout Wednesday at 10 a.m.
After students walked out of class at 10 a.m., they gathered for 17 minutes to honor the 17 students killed in the Stoneman Douglas shooting on February 14, 2018.
More than 2,500 walkouts were planned nationwide. Many of the students wore orange to represent their support for gun control.
ABC57 had reporters live at Penn High School, Washington High School in South Bend, Adams High School in South Bend, Northridge Middle and High Schools in Middlebury, Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan, Clay High School in South Bend and Mishawaka High School.
