Local kindergarten teacher receives "Teacher of the Year" nomination

OSCEOLA, Ind. – ABC 57 would like to introduce you to Shonda Masterson.
She's a kindergarten teacher at Moran Elementary in Osceola. Masterson is a nominee for “Teacher of the Year.”
Parents of the students she teaches say she's warm, kind and able to bring out the potential in each child.
One parent said her daughter doesn't want to miss school because she doesn't want to miss out on the fun in Ms. Masterson's class.
“It was really touching and it just made me appreciate that parents notice the effort that we put forth everyday for their children,” said Masterson.
The final selection for “Teacher of the Year” will be in May.
