Local nonprofits may be eligible for disaster loans from 2018 flooding, storms

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) deadline for private nonprofits to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans is February 5.

Private nonprofits may apply for these loans for damages caused by severe storms and flooding from February 14 through March 4 of 2018.

Nonprofits in the following counties may be eligible to apply for low-interest rate disaster loans: Elkhart, Fulton, La Porte, Marshall, Pulaski, St. Joseph, and Starke. Click here for the full list. 

Examples of eligible nonprofits include but are not limited to food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools, and colleges.

The assistance is available regardless of whether or not the organization suffered physical property damage.

Loan amounts can reach up to $2 million with a 2.5 percent interest rate and terms up to 30 years.
