SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Monday local organizations packed meals for a school backpack program to begin March Meal Madness.
The program helps food-insecure children around the area and began Monday and will end the last day of March.
Teams competed to see who could prepare the most meals and raise the most money, while working towards a community goal of $55,000.
The money raised will support meal production, food resource operations, and distribution efforts that will ensure good food reaches those in need.
A variety of breakfasts and entrees will be provided in each backpack.
