Locust Road paving and reconstruction begins Monday in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -The reconstruction and paving of Locust Road from Prairie Avenue south to the US 20 Bypass bridge starts Monday.
A portion of this stretch will be fully reconstructed due to deterioration of the roadway base, while other portions will receive paving work.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 24 with a completion date of mid-November, weather permitting.
Sections of the roadway will be closed when under construction.
Detour routes will be Ewing Avenue and Ireland Road via Gertrude Street/Linden Road. Construction will be completed in two phases:
PHASE ONE - The reconstruction of Locust Road from Prairie Avenue south to Irvington Avenue. Work is expected to start Monday, July 24 and be completed by late September, weather permitting.
PHASE TWO - The reconstruction of Locust Road from Irvington Avenue to Assumption Drive. During this phase, Locust Road from Assumption Drive south to the US 20 Bypass bridge will also be milled and paved. Work is estimated to begin late September and conclude mid-November, weather permitting.
