ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.- It's National Farmworker Awareness Week and the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) is holding the National Long Sleeve Shirt Drive to celebrate.

The shirt drive is calling for gently-used long sleeve shirts for the farmers to help prevent exposure to pesticides.

The most common route of pesticide poisoning is through the skin when exposed, according to AFOP.

AFOP also shared that the US Environmental Protection Agency reported that over 20,000 instances of pesticide poisoning happen every year.

Long sleeve shirts can be dropped off at Proteus, Inc. located at 220 W Colfax Ave. Suite 200 in South Bend.

For more information, including other drop-off locations state- and nationwide, visit the AFOP website.
