Magic Johnson standing by educational promise

LANSING, Mich. -- Earvin "Magic" Johnson is helping raise money for the Saginaw Promise Scholarship fund.

It sends kids in that district to college for free. 

The Lansing, Michigan native said education is really the key to success and he told a crowd that if you work hard you can make anything happen.

"If you get behind young people, they can turn out to be great and also do positive good things in our community,” said Johnson.

Johnson is also pumping money into minor league sports in mid-Michigan.

Next week, he'll officially own the Great Lakes Loons.
