The Mishawaka Police Department reports officers responded to Central Park at 295 E Mishawaka Ave. on Sept. 20 for reports of a juvenile having just been strangled.
Officers arrived to find the victim, a 12-year-old boy, in the fetal position near a pavilion. Police say the victim was crying, shaking, and hyperventilating.
The victim's older sister told police her brother had just been strangled by a man, identified as Goodman.
Goodman reportedly approached the victim near the swing set on the playground. The victim said he was arguing with another juvenile while Goodman approached.
The victim and other juvenile were said to be swearing at each other.

Goodman then reportedly began strangling the victim by placing his hands around his neck.
The victim said his vision got blurry and he saw black dots. He explained he could not breathe, talk, or hear anything.
While being strangled, Goodman allegedly hit the victim's head on the pole of the swing set several times.
The victim recalled his sister screaming for Goodman to get off him. A stranger then pulled Goodman off the victim.
The victim was given treatment at a local hospital where it was noted he had obvious redness and swelling to the left side of his neck.
Purple bruising was also found on his left forearm along with an abrasion on his right leg.
