SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A man was arrested Saturday evening after barricading himself in a neighbor’s house on North O’Brien street.
Witnesses said that the incident allegedly started over a custody dispute.
The man whose house the suspect locked himself in said that he actually hung out with the suspect earlier that day.
“He was just real nice,” said the neighbor. “He ended up coming over late at night. He knocked on the back door at night, he ended up having his kid with him. “
The neighbor said he invited the suspect in and even gave the suspect’s child food before officers arrived on scene.
“Next thing I know, there was police outside, the guy ends up running upstairs and he says he has a warrant out for his arrest,” the neighbor said.
The neighbor said he went outside to help police try and get the suspect out of the house.
The neighbor said the suspect eventually surrendered.
Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the suspect or the charges he is facing.
