Man charged with Child Molesting after allegedly impregnating 13-year-old in 1997

Fidencio Carmona

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Court documents from St. Joseph County reveal 53-year-old Fidencio Carmona has been charged with Child Molesting-intercourse or deviate sex with victim less than 14 for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl in 1997.

Carmona's initial court hearing is set for Dec. 17.

Case documents state the father of the victim reported her missing on Aug. 6, 1997.

It was learned that the victim and Carmona had gone to Mexico.

On Nov. 25, 1998, police learned the victim's father had gone to Mexico to pick her up.

It was also learned the victim had given birth in January 1998, while in Mexico.

Documents state, although the victim and her father were able to return to the US, they were unable to bring the child with them.

In November 2024, a detective with the South Bend Police Department's Special Victims Unit was informed that hair had been collected from the victim's child and that there was a half-sibling. The detective was told the two had the same father, Carmona.

In December 2024, investigators collected buccal swabs from the alleged half-siblings.

The hair was also collected. The hair and swabs were taken to the Indiana State Police Lab.

While awaiting results, a detective spoke with the victim who said Carmona had touched her sexually and had sexual intercourse with her.

The victim said she couldn't remember how many times it happened, but she had told him to leave her alone and that she'd tell on him.

Carmona allegedly told her, “They’re not gonna believe you.”

When the victim became pregnant, Carmona told her they " had to get out of here."

The victim said that she left the house and Carmona pulled up in his car and told her to get in.

She stated she got in because she was afraid since he had previously strangled her, slapped her, and pulled her hair.

Carmona then drove to the airport, and they eventually arrived in Mexico City.

Carmona is also alleged to have threatened to kill the victim's family if she told anyone.

Testing of the swabs and hair determined it's more likely the victim's child and the alleged half-sibling are in fact half-siblings.

The victim said she had only recently asked her child to send the hair but hadn't opened the envelope. She told investigators she felt like the situation was her fault and that's why it took so long to come forward.

The victim stated Carmona was presently living in New Jersey and was concerned he might flee to Mexico.
