Man sentenced over 17 years for Dealing in Methamphetamine

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday, a man was sentenced for charges stemming from a July 2024 incident.

Case documents state James Garbison, of Lapaz, was arrested after selling 8 grams of suspected methamphetamine to a confidential informant.

On Oct. 10, Garbison pled guilty to Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony, and a violation of probation since he committed the felony while on probation for Possession of a Narcotic Drug, a Level 5 felony.

Garbison was sentenced to 17.5 years, with 12.5 years to be served in the Indiana Department of Corrections, 3 years in Marshall County Community Corrections, and 2 years on probation.

Garbison was sentenced to an additional year for his probation violation.
