Man shot multiple times while sitting in parked car

ELKHART, Ind. -- A man sitting in a vehicle parked in the 300 block of W. Indiana Avenue was shot several times early Tuesday morning.

Just before 2 a.m., Elkhart Police were called to Elkhart General Hospital for a patient with gunshot wounds.

The 32-year-old victim told police he was sitting in a vehicle parked in the 300 block of W. Indiana Avenue when a suspect fired several shots through the windshield.

The victim suffered wounds to his hand, arm and hip.

The victim went to the apartment of a friend and had the friend drive him to the hospital.

Police said the victim is being treated at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for non-life threatening injuries.
