Person stabbed on northwest side of South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department opened an investigation after a person was stabbed on the northwest side of the city Monday morning. 

According to officers, the stabbing happened around 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of North Portage Avenue and Bergan Street. This is approximately one block east of Marquette Primary Montessori Academy.

The 21-year-old male victim had multiple stab wounds when police found him in the 2100 block of North Brookfield. 

He was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Police say there is no suspect information.
