SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A march to raise awareness of a rare disease is taking place in South Bend on Saturday, Oct. 9.
The third annual Nolan’s Menkes March is happening at Four Wind Field in South Bend. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9 a.m.
The march is a memorial for Nolan Zent, who was diagnosed with Menkes disease at seven months. He died in February 2020. The purpose is to raise awareness for Menkes Disease, a rare disorder caused by a genetic mutation on the X-chromosome.
All proceeds from the March will go towards A Rosie Place for Children.
