SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Today June 7, Marian High School held its 25th Annual Knights in Need Golf Outing at Blackthorn golf course in South Bend.
The Knights in Need program serves as a tool to help Marian families in need that might be struggling financially, those hurt by a death in the family, a disability, or even an illness.
"The other thing we do is then step in and provide that direction on what do you need to do as far as your health benefits," says Trustee of Knights in Need Tony Catanzarite. "And then if they're, you know, a mortgage payment of making sure they have groceries, keeping the lights on, maybe we have to pay for a funeral because they don't have the money. It's any of those things."
Through this outing and various other donations, Knights in Need have been able to help 105 Marian families and have received over $365,000 of financial support.
"I think it's a testament to Marian High School. Marian's a different place. The saying "learn, serve and lead" means something and you make the commitment to become part of the Marian family. That's not just a saying," says Catanzarite.
