Maryland to abolish capital punishment

MARYLAND — Maryland's governor is expected to sign legislation abolishing capital punishment in his state.

This will make Maryland the eighteenth state to repeal the death penalty.

Supporters of the legislation, like the NAACP and the Catholic church, are expected to turn out for the bill signing ceremony.

The bill be signed into law at Maryland's state house on Thursday.
