Mayor reminds residents about the importance of a flu shot

It is the season to get your flu shots, and the mayor agrees.

South Bend Mayor, Pete Buttigieg received his flu shot Thursday morning at the St. Joseph County Health Department,

Buttigieg and the St. Joseph County Director of Health and Education, reminded residents it is important to get your flu shots.

"This is really important for your kid’s health, for your family's health, and for our community’s health.  We're asking people to do it because, not only for their selves, but it really makes the community better off because you're less likely to spread it to a family member, to a co-worker, maybe to somebody who is elderly or ill or really vulnerable. The flu isn’t fun for any of us but for some people, it’s extremely dangerous,” said Buttigieg.

Seasonal flu activity has already started and can continue to occur as late as May.
