Media Literacy Week: Day 3 Evaluate

Today's theme, evaluate, focuses on the deeper meaning of media messages.

Evaluating media content requires drawing your own conclusions based on the information gathered.

How is that media analyzed? How is it interpreted?

Ask yourself, "Is what I'm reading or watching truthful?"

Look out for opinions or hidden messages.

Discern how different people might understand this message differently.

Experts say our own values, beliefs, biases and experiences influence how we process what we see through the media.

It's up to all of us to find credible outlets that are accurate, balanced and comprehensive.

To help you tell the difference between fact and fiction, rely on reputable sources rooted in research with plenty of context and not individual opinions.
