SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Meijer teamed up with the South Bend Cubs to donate 5,000 turkeys to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana on Thursday at the Four Winds Field parking lot.
Cars spilled out onto the streets and residents were thankful to get a helping hand.
“We’re very grateful. This food thing’s been very helpful for the people who need it. We’re very very grateful. It’s gonna be nice,” said Dave McDonald, a turkey recipient.
The giveaway is part of Meijer’s initiative to donate 50,000 turkeys to food banks across the Midwest.
