Member of Kroc Family visits South Bend to tour grandmother's legacy

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A member of the Kroc Family is in town.

On Friday afternoon, Joan Kroc's granddaughter, Amanda Latimer, met with Father Hesburgh at Notre Dame.

Afterward, she ate dinner at the new Kroc Center on Western Ave. in South Bend. She then took a tour of the facilities.

Ray and Joan Kroc were the founders of McDonald's. When Joan Kroc died, she left behind more than $1 billion to help build Kroc Centers, much like the one here. This fund, in their name, has led to the creation of Kroc Centers across the country.
