Michiana Coat Drive provides free coats to kids in need
ELKHART, Ind. -- The third annual Michiana Coat Drive took place on Saturday, November 21.
The drive aims to provide free coats to kids that are in need for the upcoming cold winter months.
People are able to drop off any new or gently used clothes to drop off areas around the Elkhart area.
Wendy Cruz, the Michiana Coat Drive organizer, stated "It's very important to me to make sure every child has a coat, because it's sad and it's heartbreaking to see a child cold or a child not be able to go out at recess and enjoy time. And as well as over the holiday seasons, they got a lot of break time, and I want to make sure that they can go outside and enjoy building a snowman or going sledding or doing things like that, and be warm and not have to worry about a coat not fitting, or it don't work, or they just don't have it. So, it's very important for me just to see the kids stay warm through the holiday season."
There are two drop off points this year. The first one is Marcos Don Miguel at 1700 Toledo Road and the second is located at Del Amar Mega shop.
