GOSHEN, Ind. -- What started off as a text between two pilots, took off in a big way from the Goshen Municipal Airport with the help of the community.
Todd Eby and Grant Baker were initially going to take one flight down filled with supplies to provide relief to those who could not be reached otherwise.
That turned into seven and more flights down there from the regional airport to the mountains.
"When I saw the people down there, and you could almost see the desperation and gratitude in their face, and I think from that point on Grant and I were kind of hooked that we want to do everything we can do to push this little further down the field,” said Eby.
The two were able to transport more than 15,000 pounds of goods, including some tailored to the area's need.
"We also made contacts on our first trip with locals down there and we were able to say what are you guys need? We're gonna make other trips and so it was really cool. They were able to say you know our hospital is out of gauze and so we are able to bring gauze down and insulin and some other medical supplies,” said Baker.
Donations are no longer being accepted, and they are done taking flights for now.
