Michigan Department of Transportation opens U.S. 31 northbound

BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. - The brand-new northbound lanes of U.S. 31 are now open between Niles and M-139.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reopened the lanes with new asphalt and pavement markings.

This project is part of MDOT's $32.9 million initiative to repave 12 miles of road, which began in mid-April.

The project's estimated completion date is November 3 and is expected to support almost 400 jobs.
