Michigan health officials discover West Nile in turkey

Michigan health officials say they have already detected the West Nile virus in the state.

The Michigan Department of Community Health says West Nile was found in a turkey in central Michigan. It's the first Michigan animal to test positive for the virus in 2013.

Health officials say the best way for people to protect themselves against the virus is to proof homes by fixing all window and door screens. They also suggest removing standing water nearby the home.
