MISHAWAKA, Ind.—Mishawaka Police held a “Chill with a Cop” event in Central Park on Wednesday so that local kids could get a chance to connect with law enforcement in a festive setting.
The free event was full of frozen treats, games, face painting and inflatable fun.
"It's about coming out and building up that relationship with our police officers in our community. One of the most important parts of our community is our children in our community because they're our future. Being able to build up that trust with them to let them know they can come up and approach us and talk to us,” said Lt. Tim Williams.
Lt. Williams also got the chance to show off his D.A.R.E.-themed squad car that has been cruising around town lately.
