Miss Indiana could be next Miss America

The next Miss America could be from right here in Michiana!

ABC 57 caught up with her right before she flew out to Las Vegas.

23-year-old Jackie Jerlecki is a Goshen native.

She was crowned Miss Indiana, and now she's moving on to try to become Miss America at the pageant in Las Vegas.

Her platform is to support the arts.

She graduated from Bowling Green State with a degree in Theatre.

"I truly believe that this organization gives young women a voice to be a role model, to stand out for good ethics, for being a role model, for being a young woman who is passionate about her education and community service," said Jerlecki.

She also said that she owes her success to the support of her family and hopes to enjoy 2012 as the new Miss America.

The 91st Annual Miss America Pageant is on Saturday, Jan. 14, and you can watch it right here on ABC 57.
