Multiple fire departments respond to commercial fire, $250K worth of fire damage

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety reports they responded to an automatic aid call from the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety for a commercial fire at Hoffman Diecast on Kerth in St. Joseph around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Fire officials say units arrived to find fire inside and on the factory's roof.
A team was sent inside to mop up a sprinkler-controlled fire while another was sent to the roof to extinguish a working fire.
Other units on scene included Benton Charter Township Fire Department, St. Joseph Charter Township Fire Department Station #2, Lincoln Charter Township Firefighters, and St. Joseph Township Police Department, who officials say were instrumental in the initial evacuation of the factory.
The fire was under control within 20 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials estimate the damages are at a minimum of $250,000.
